FAQs about hotels in Salzburg

The Hills are Alive in Salzburg

Made famous for its “hills alive with the sound of music”, Salzburg is a very pretty town filled with romantic buildings and squares. If you are not yet aware that Mozart was born here, then you will be as soon as you land at Salzburg W.A. Mozart

International Airport. Further your education about this musical prodigy at his actual birthplace, Mozarts Geburtshaus. The city is the namesake of the Salzach River which runs through it, and alongside this beautiful river lays the Schloss Mirabell, one of the many impressive castles within the city limits. Schloss Mirabell and Hellbrunn with their picturesque gardens, beautiful galleries and impressive halls make the ideal spot for a picnic during summer.

The white-stone Hohensalzburg fortress is perched upon a green hill and offers magnificent views over the city. Or, you can escape it all in the Kapuzinerberg forest, which offers splendid Alpine vistas- a reminder of Salzburg’s natural beauty.

The shopping centre focuses around Alter Markt Square and Getreidegasse, the latter is a quirky street with old-fashioned signs indicating what each store sells. With 125 hotels and guesthouses available on Booking.com, your stay in Salzburg is bound to be as pleasant as this city is pretty.

Easy to walk around on the flat and all places close by. Bought SalzCard enabled free travel plus entry to many attractions. Mirabelle Palace/Gardens, up hill to the Fortress, all the Sound of Music musical sites, and a boat ride enjoyed. Views from Fortress across Salzburg and to mountains were lovely. Locals very friendly. The cable car was in repair throughout April and we had snow too, so we couldn't go up but think this is only once month per year re cable car so worth checking before you go if this is on your agenda.

    Salzburg is a great city.

Salzburg is a great city. The castle is a must see via the funicular railway up to the top with spectacular views over the city and beyond. Across the river is the Mirabell Palace and gardens which is a beautiful area to sit or explore. We enjoyed sitting outside the Glockenspiel cafe for coffee in the morning and a refreshing drink in the afternoon.

Salzburg is without a doubt the most beautiful city on Earth…..and Austria is the most beautiful country on the planet. That’s huge of me to say as I come from Australia!!! Everywhere you look in Salzburg there’s a spectacular view. The city deserves 56/10. Everyone should visit Salzburg at least once - or ten times - during their life!

Beautiful city, located close to lots of sight seeing locations. Highly recommend going to the Eagles Nest (The Kehlsteinhaus), it’s a short bus ride and you can walk up from The Documentation station without paying insane guided tour prices. I got from Salzburg, up and back for under €30. Took me 1 hour, 40 minutes to walk to the top.

I love Salzburg. It is beautiful in any season.

I love Salzburg. It is beautiful in any season. The old town with its churches, galleries, coffee shops and magnificent castle on the top of the rocks. We took the Festungbahn to the castle and had a lovely dinner with a view on the top of the rocks. We also strolled through the old town and took part in the 10 k Hervis run so we could see the mountains and the residential parts of Salzburg. We arrived by train and the journey was quite quick and easy. We had late breakfast at Café Tomaselli. Great coffee and cakes with a view from a balcony. There is still so much to see and do.

Location. Easy to get to the hotel from the airport, just 10 mins with a direct bus. The bus stop is about 60m from the hotel and many buses passed through. While you can walk to the old town, I took the bus because it's very cold. Check-in and check-out process was fast, the staff were helpful and friendly, room was clean, bed was comfy. Bathroom works well. There's a coffee machine in the room. The hotel provided a kettle when I requested one as I don't drink coffee. Overall, a great place to stay in Salzburg.

The receptionist was very very kind and friendly, the room was nice, the building is lovely with an old facade very typical. We didn't book with breakfast, but we found restaurants and supermarket really close. The Hotel is a little bit "far" from the city centre, but walking there is just 25 min, nice starting walk to discover Salzburg Plus+ there is a bus directly from the airport and leave you there in just 20 min or so. The room was nicely furnished and with 3 beds we still had plenty of room to move around. We were happy with parking being located right out front of the building. The breakfast was very tasty and the space was nice. If you are using the metro system to come in to Salzburg, this is your hotel. We liked that the toilet room and the shower room were separate places. Travelling with a teen, this was a really convenient feature.
